Founded in 1958, ICI CALDAIE S.p.A. can now be considered a leading company in the CHP sector. This is the result of continuous research and development which has seen the company keep up with the cutting edge in the field of highly reliable heating generators. The experience gained by the firm over the years has enabled it to transfer know-how acquired in the planning and realization of industrial steam generators – a sector in which the firm occupies a leading position – to domestic and wall-hung boilers. ICI CALDAIE S.p.A. now presents itself on the European market with a complete range of products.
Every project is carried out by its in-house R&D Department, which features modern networked CAD stations. Sub-assembled components are prepared using laser cutters and numerically controlled machines, with modern robots used to perfectly connect welded components. Every boiler is subjected to a demanding reliability test.
The development of new products in compliance with increasing strict European regulations on use and emissions is entrusted to an R&D Department boasting modern instruments used to verify boiler reliability and output. All boiler models produced are CE marked. In 1993 the ICIM (Istituto di Certificazione Industriale per la Meccanica) certified the ICI CALDAIE S.p.A. Quality System as UNI EN 29002 (IS0 9002) in accordance with Italian, European and international standards. In June 2002 BVQI (Bureau Veritas Quality Insurance) issued ICI CALDAIE S.p.A. with ISO 9001/94 certification, which was followed by ISO 9001/00 certification in April 2004. ICI holds IPR for a reforming device used in combination with a PEMFC-based μCHP system.
ICI Caldaie has strong experience in the engineering, development and construction of FC-based m-CHP units. This is evident in the example of the SIDERA30 project, which saw the company conceive and develop a now multi-patented 30 kW μ-CHP unit in its own laboratory. The expertise acquired by ICI over the course of its history relates to the development of fuel processors, FC characterization, component optimization and integration and BoP structuring.
